Uniqway, a pan-European, unique carsharing platform for students, enters the day-to-day successful test phase. From now on, the platform is available to students and educators of the Czech Technical University, the University of Economics and the Czech University of Life Sciences. The conditions for this service to work were created by ŠKODA AUTO ČR and ŠKODA AUTO DigiLab. The CTU students have devised the whole technical concept and design of the service, the students of the UE are in charge of the marketing strategy of the project and manage the social networks and the CULS is responsible for its operation.
The best work of the jubilee 10th annual competition for students and architects up to 33 years of age was awarded at the Center for Architecture and Urban Planning (CAMP). Out of a total of 49 entries on Architectural Works topic, which initiate social life and development of the site, the jury sent twelve articles to the final round. The award ceremony took place with the participation of the CTU Rector, doc. Vojtěch Petráček.
The Czech Chamber of Authorized Engineers and Technicians in Building Construction (ČKAIT) organized an exhibition ‘Czech and Slovak Buildings of the Century’ at the Faculty of Civil Engineering. The project, created on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of establishment of the republic, maps important buildings across the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Filip Galko has designed a lighting shop as a theater in which the scenes are changing, so the customers can better imagine how the selected lighting fit in the interior. In her project, Veronika Indrova converted the Strahov stadium to flats. For their designs, these students of the Faculty of Architecture are among the 40 most successful in the respected Young Talent Architecture Award receiving their prizes in late September at the 16th International Biennale of Architecture in Venice, where their works will be exhibited until 25 November. Thanks to their success, the Czech Republic has ranked among the most successful countries of this year's competition of architectural diploma projects.
Meeting with a delegation from Soul´s Dongguan University was held on Friday, 5 October where CTU Vice-Rector for Science, Creative Activities, Doctoral Studies and Foreign Relations prof. Ing. Zbyněk Škvor, CSc. and President of Donggong University Dr. Tae Sik Han signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
Two years ago, Marek Novák’s team from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering developed a blood glucose measurement device - an XGLU meter. With this device, graduates of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering have already won a number of competitions, including the prestigious Microsoft Imagine Cup. In September, the XGLU won the IoT Future Hub contest organized by Vodafone, and in early October, Ing. Marek Novák ranked second in the Czech Inventor survey.
Doc. Lukáš Ferkl, Director of the University Center for Energy Efficient Buildings of the Czech Technical University, represented the CTU rector, doc. Vojtech Petráček as he took part in a mission of the Union of Industry and Transport to the United Arab Emirates. This was part of the foreign trip of Radek Vondráček, chairman of the Czech Parliament.
The award of the European Association of Steel Construction Manufacturers - ECCS is awarded in recognition to major scientists who have made a significant contribution to the development of scientific and technical knowledge in the field of structural steel constructions.
On 6 September, the meeting of the Chamber of Statutory Towns of the Czech Republic took place at the CTU. The event took place under the auspices of the Rector doc. Vojtěch Petráček as he gave a solemn greeting to the mayors of the statutory cities of the Czech Republic and other guests.
The team of prof. Jiří Matas of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering has been working with Toyota since 2003 on the development of an autonomous car. The scope of cooperation is gradually expanding. This year sought the foundation of the Toyota Research Lab sponsored by Toyota by amount of 1 million Euro per year.
