5 themes , 24 teams, 112 hackers, 63 mentors, 55 calls and 20 submitted final projects. This is what the online hackathon looked like, lasting three days in a row. The themes picked by the organizers were City serving the people, Education for the future, Transformation and stabilization of companies, AI and the use of data potential and Smarter healthcare. In the final round, the projects addressed the issue of greenery in cities, digitization of health questionnaires, teachers' social networks or school tests.
The absolute winner and also the winner of the Education for the Future category was a team of innovators called MlyKo with the project "Tvůrčitelé". "Creators is a web-based platform that brings together teachers who are willing to approach things differently. It is a teacher's social network that serves to share inspiration, experience, procedures and the use of tools, "says one of the authors of the project, David Koutný. The team won the main prize of CZK 30,000.
A special prize was awarded by the Faculty of Information Technology for the project "Send tests". The award went to a team of students from CTU and Tomas Bata University in Zlín called Czechoslovakia in Taiwan. In their project, they developed online tools for more effective teaching. "The benefit of our application is that we bring students and teachers closer together. If a situation arises where a student cannot attend school, he / she will simply send his / her written works in pdf format to the school system, processing them better with the help of our application, “says one of the creators, Jiří Hanuš, FIT CTU student.
The useful application is used to support the evaluation and correction of written tests, including connection to school systems of marks registration and evaluation. The creators won the FIT CTU award worth CZK 30,000.
UniHack was created on the initiative of students who did not just want to passively watch the economic consequences of the current crisis situation, and thus came up with the idea of an innovative hackathon. Together with FIT CTU, CEE Hacks, prg.ai and UNICO.ai they created a full-fledged hackathon within a few days. Thanks to partners such as AstraZeneca, Uniqway, the ICT Operator, FIT CTU and Mavericks, the participants were able to compete for valuable prizes.
Businesses and institutions have the opportunity to use this crisis to innovate. The resulting UniHack hackathon projects can be put into practice and have the potential to be further developed with specific companies, cities or state institutions so that they are useful for the whole society.
