The main component of disinfectants produced at CTU, namely at the Department of Nuclear Chemistry of the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, is ethyl alcohol and distilled water. When preparing surface disinfection, isopropyl alcohol and hydrogen peroxide are added. For hand disinfection glycerol, citral and isopropanol are added. Faculties fill the disinfectant into five and ten liter barrels. Disinfection is used in the premises of the university and its parts, such as the Lvíčata university elementary and nursery school.

The 22nd annual Werner von Siemens Prize was awarded on 5 March. Czech branch of Siemens appreciates the work and projects in the field of technical and natural sciences in four categories: the most important result of basic research, the best diploma thesis, the best dissertation and the best pedagogue. Together with students, their work leaders also receive rewards. This year, special awards were given for overcoming obstacles in study, for the excellent quality of female scientific work and for the graduation work on Industry 4.0.

Na Fakultě informačních technologií ČVUT v Praze proběhl ve dnech 28. až 29. února 2020 historicky první ročník technologického hackathonu HackFIT 2020. Soutěže se zúčastnilo přes 60 soutěžících, z nichž mnohým nebylo ani 20 let. Přesto na 24hodinovém soutěžním IT maratonu ti nejlepší dokázali překonat sami sebe, vytvořit smysluplný projekt a domluvit si spolupráci s předními průmyslovými firmami.

Artificial intelligence in the near future will fundamentally affect people's lives like no other technology. Its responsible development is therefore a key priority for the European Union, the Czech Republic and academia. Therefore, by signing a memorandum, the Czech Technical University in Prague, Charles University and Masaryk University have launched a project to build a European Center of Excellence in the field of artificial intelligence for a more secure society. It develops the national theme and fulfills the National Strategy adopted last year (NAIS).

The Khalifa University hosted the Mohamed Bin Zayed International Robotics Challenge (MBZIRC) in Abu Dhabi on 23-25 February. At the competition, the team of Faculty of Electrical Engineering CTU in Prague (FEL), cooperating with colleagues from universities in Pennsylvania and New York won first place for building walls with drones, silver for destroying defined targets (balloons) and the most valuable gold medal for the team Challenge.

The Vice-President of the Senate, Jiří Oberfalzer, in cooperation with the Prague Academic Club 48 and Mene Tekel, organized a memorial gathering at the commemorative plaque of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in Nerudova Street on Tuesday, 25 February 2020. Participants commemorated the 72nd anniversary of the march of students for freedom and democracy to Prague Castle, which was held on 25 February, 1948. The rector of CTU, doc. Vojtěch Petráček gave a speech at the event.

Pupils from the elementary school Lvíčata spent the last Friday before this year's spring break in Prague 6 on ice. A carnival on the ice had been held. The pupils' parents could also come to skate on ice. The competition for the best mask was announced for both children and their parents.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of computer graphics in the Czech Republic, a commemorative seminary took place in the building of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering on Thursday, 20 February. The event consisted of presentations of founders and witnesses of computer graphics from various workplaces in the Czech Republic. Photographs of historical equipment and projects were not the only things presented during the seminary, but also unique memories of the beginnings of computer graphics in the Czech Republic.

Technical study programs were considered a male domain, but the achievements of women and girls in science prove that technology also offers great possibilities to women. Every year for the fifth time now, on 15 February, the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague therefore organizes the event Become a Scientist for a Day, intended primarily for secondary school students. Participants and participants learned about particle physics, quantum technologies and mathematical applications, both in lectures, in exercises and in laboratories.

CTU CarTech students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and eForce FEE Prague Formula students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering tested their formula cars on the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi, where the Formula 1 Grand Prix is held every year.
