Two new student formulas were revealed on 4 September after technical presentations. Despite the cancellation of all international Formula Student races, the eForce FEE Prague Formula team did not slow down in development and presented the invited guests with a complete novelty in addition to the optimized electric formula model - a self-driving formula that the team was the first to construct in the Czech Republic. Both formulas have won several awards this summer in online alternatives to traditional international races.
On September 1st, 2020, Mr. Ching-Jong Liao, President of the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, signed a memorandum of cooperation between the two universities aimed at further common opportunities and developments in science and research. Memorandum signed by the Rector of CTU in Prague doc. Vojtěch Petráček was brought to the handover ceremony by the Vice-Rector for Information System of the Czech Technical University in Prague, Radek Holý.
You can visit the world premiere of the exhibition "iMucha - the famous collection in motion" in the Prague Municipal House from 21 August. Among other things, the exhibition features an animated self-portrait of Alfons Mucha or moving beauties from his famous posters. The animations were created also with the help of the EbSynth tool, which was developed by the emerging company Secret Weapons, which is backed by conceptual designer Jakub Javora and researchers Ondřej Jamriška and Šárka Sochorová from the team of prof. Daniel Sýkora from the Department of Computer Graphics and Interaction, Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Thanks to their efforts, the world-unique algorithms developed at the department are coming into real practice.
The pulmonary ventilator, which has been developed by a team of experts headed by Prof. Karel Roubík, from the Faculty of Biomedical Englineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, in collaboration with partners from COVID19CZ and other experts, has received certification from the FDA (the United States Food and Drug Administration). This is a very prestigious award.
Another top foreign scientist came to the Czech Republic thanks to the newly emerging RICAIP center to strengthen research on "Czech technology". In July 2020, Torsten Sattler, a computer vision expert, joined the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics at the Czech Technical University in Prague (CIIRC CTU). This German researcher, who moved here from Sweden, decided to combine his next career with Czech science and propel the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics for advanced industry.
The largest ICHEP2020 particle physics conference, which took place between July 28 and 6 August 2020, attracted over 3,000 particle physicists. Originally, the organizers expected that about a thousand of them would arrive in Prague, but due to the pandemic, the plans had to change and the conference moved to the online environment.
Uniqway student carsharing did not stop even under coronavirus restrictions. On the contrary, the service continues to work and the unexpected situation has even contributed to the introduction of several practical innovations. Those interested in using the service can now register from the comfort of their home. The fleet of cars that students and employees of Prague universities can borrow has grown with the ŠKODA CITIGOe iV electric car with the distinctive name Electrician. Twenty-three cars are available for the summer.
The University Center for Energy Efficient Buildings succeeded in the competition of business plans called Parádní nápad. It scored in the Levitee urban furniture, which won the Best Innovation category.
The team of doc. Lukáš Vojtěch and Ing. Marek Neruda from the Department of Telecommunication Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE) has long been engaged in research and development of electrically conductive textile materials. In a record time of 3 months, the team designed and tested a prototype of a textile composite material that can be sterilized by electric current. The prototype composite consists of carbon fabrics, nanotextiles and an electrode system. The filtration concept is registered for patent protection and the team is currently looking for partners for introduction into production.
Experts from the Department of Cybernetics and the Department of Computers will be researching caves in the Býčí skála complex in the Moravian Karst from 20 to 24 July. Drones and ground robots will help them monitor inaccessible areas. The survey will also be a preparation for participation in the next round of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) competition.
