A student of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Czech Technical University, Alžběta Šabouková, received the Award of the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports for extraordinary deeds of students or graduates for 2020, for saving the life of a driver in a crashed car. She provided quick help to her on 18 November last year, when she found herself in a sudden traffic accident between Třešť and Jezdovice villages.

Even without the decision of the mayor of the capital city of Prague or the governors of individual regions, two hundred students from the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Czech Technical University currently help on the front line in medical and social facilities, sampling points or rescue services: future paramedics, physiotherapists, laboratory technicians, radiologists assistants, biomedical technicians or students of security programs.

Online tutoring in mathematics and other subjects, consultations for families and school network administrators, provision of workshops and computer equipment - these are specific forms of assistance that volunteers from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE) provide for schools and their students during the coronavirus outbreak. An innovative LEO device is also available for practical teaching of high school students from home.

Three leading Czech universities - Masaryk University, the Czech Technical University in Prague and the Brno University of Technology - have agreed to deepen existing cooperation in the field of cybersecurity and have established a registered institute, the CyberSecurity Hub. In addition to strengthening joint professional activities, it will also focus on supporting industry and companies and European certification of cutting-edge technologies in the field of cybersecurity. The founding charter of the institute was signed by representatives of universities on 18 November.

At the beginning of November, the State Office for Nuclear Safety (SÚJB) issued a permit for the location of the VR-2 subcritical reactor to the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague (FNSPE). Preparations are proceeding according to schedule, and the new reactor should be launched in 2022.

The development project of the WAVE 120 microelectric power plant taking place at the University Center for Energy Efficient Buildings of the Czech Technical University has significantly approached the phase of its real application on the market. Official measurements confirmed that the device has reached the parameters needed to obtain the so-called Ecodesign and can be installed virtually throughout the European Union.

The Fitify mobile application was founded by Martin Mazanec and Matouš Skála while studying at the Faculty of Information Technology, CTU. The application offers over 800 exercises, dozens of workouts and a virtual coach. It has already found its users in 180 countries around the world.

The pandemic did not stope the international student architectural competition INSPIRELI AWARDS as record of 1,336 students from 106 countries entered this year's fifth year. A total of 1305 projects competed in all categories. Due to the epidemiological measures, the award ceremony took place on Thursday, 5 November, through online stream from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, which, together with the Czech Technical University in Prague rectorate, is a co-organizer of the competition. Those interested could watch the ceremony on social networks.

CoroVent lung ventilators developed at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague and paid for from the collection of citizens and companies are gradually being delivered to Czech hospitals. The first installation took place at the Masaryk Regional Health Hospital in Ústí nad Labem on 31 October, 2020 where the patient was hooked up to the lung ventilator for the first time.
