Rector of CTU in Prague doc. RNDr. Vojtěch Petráček, CSc., received on 25 October 2021 a delegation from the Federative Republic of Brazil led by the Governor of the State of Bahia Rui Costa dos Santos. The meeting was also attended by the Vice-Rector for Science, Creative Activity and Doctoral Studies, prof. Ing. Zbyněk Škvor, CSc., Vice-Rector for International Relations prof. Ing. Oldřich Starý, CSc., Director of CIIRC CTU Mgr. Ondřej Velek, Ph.D. and Chancellor Ing. Lucie Orgoníková. The Governor's visit was a follow-up to the technology mission organized by CzechInvest in February 2019, which was attended on behalf of CVUT by representatives of the CIIRC and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of CTU.

"Our goal is to exchange students together. We have an ambitious goal of 50% of our students having a foreign experience. We would also like to increase the number of permanent professors from abroad," said Vice-Rector for International Relations Prof. Oldřich Starý at the meeting.

The two sides also agreed to cooperate on scientific research, specifically in the area of health care projects, which are currently a significant topic in Brazil. Given the low number of health professionals per population, the Governor expressed interest in cooperation in telemedicine and remote diagnostics.

"We will be happy to participate in cooperation in research and education in technical fields, both with the state of Bahia and with Brazil as a whole," said the Rector of CTU doc. Vojtěch Petráček.

At the CIIRC, the Brazilian delegation took a focused tour of Testbed, a site for testing methods for advanced industrial production, which they themselves are also building according to Industry 4.0 principles. The Governor also expressed his interest at the CIIRC in collaborating on autonomous driving of vehicles and smart city technologies.

The Governor was accompanied by Senator Jaques Wagner, Secretary Nelson Souza Leal for Economic Development and Secretary Marcus Benício Foltz Cavalcanti for Infrastructure. In addition, Paulo Roberto Britto Guimarães (Head of the Secretariat for Economic Development), Walter de Freitas Pinheiro (former Senator of Bahia), Caúra Damasceno Alves (International Adviser to the Governor), Daniel Senna (Communications Adviser) and Janaína Alves Soares Mota (International Adviser).
