Tomáš Záruba, student of the Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering and Management study program at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, had founded the Byzance (Byzantium) startup together with his other colleagues. It focuses on the rapidly growing market for Internet of Things (IoT). Members of the team deal with tools for development and long-term management of IoT, including security. To achieve the significant development of this technology that they have planned for upcoming year, they have developed an universal hardware kit, which will help overcome the difficulties between the development of prototype and mass production.

Mrs. Kateřina Valachová, minister of Education, Sports and Youth, appointed 55 new professors at the Carolina Great Hall of Charles University on 19 December 2016. Six new professors of CTU in Prague were among them.

Results of the Best CTU sportsmen of the year 2016 poll were announced at the CTU Christmas Concert, held at the Betlehem Chapel on 15 December. First three places belong to Ing. Jan Přidniš, Bc. Petr Šlajs and Kristiina Mäki.

The finale of the 8th Annual Roboshow was held in Zenger auditorium of Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Charles square on Friday, 16 December. Teams by students of CTU and various high schools from across the country competed in a tense fight, accompanied by great public interest in which the NEXT TEAM from the Zlin Gymnasium had won. Its members were Petr Molek, David Strouhal and Jan Vlk.

The student of the CTU Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering recieved the ministry´s award for outstanding performance of czech students and researchers in the year 2016 during ceremony held at the premises of the Senate on 30 November.

Expert Panel of the Government Council for Research, Development, Innovation (RVVI) selected a total of 276 best results of czech research from the years 2010 to 2014 in the 2nd pillar of the Evaluation of the results of RVVI research organizations 2015. The criterion in this pillar is the excellence of results, which are judged by response to results published and by the industrial impact of applied results.

Last November weekend, the CTU athletic representation participated in the 2nd annual World University Games, held in Rome. Our university was represented by a total of 72 students in nine sport teams in a strong competition from 3 continents, 28 countries, 57 universities represented by 1800 athletes

Jan Kraček from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering has been awarded in the Czech Head competition

On 22 November, results of the prestigious science competition Czech Head were announced. Ing. Jan Kraček, Ph.D. from the Department of Electromagnetic Field of Faculty of Electrical Engineering, earned the CEZ Group’s Doctorandus Price for technical sciences field. The professional jury was intrigued by his doctoral thesis on the technology of wireless power.

The Entrepreneurship Week took place at various locations throughout the Czech Republic from 14 to 20 November, with CTU as its partner. The aim of the event, held in parallel in 160 countries worldwide, was mainly to address business and entrepreneurs, helping them in further development, motivate more people to do business and contribute to global economic growth.

Vojtěch Zethner earned award in the Czech Head competition for electromagnetic accelerator prototype

Student of the Electronics and Communications study program of Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Vojtech Zethner, received award in the Futura category for his electromagnetic accelerator prototype at the presentation ceremony of the 10th annual Czech Head competition which took place on 15 November in Brno.
