From 12 to 14 November, Rome hosted another year of Euroroma 2015, the university sports competition which this year turned into first worldwide university games. The overall victory and the Challenge Cup was brought home by the athletes of CTU in Prague.
The award of the Talent of Josefa, Marie and Zdeňky Hlávkových Foundation was recieved by professor Vaclav Havlíček, Rector emeritus of the Czech Technical University in Prague, on 16 November at the Lužany chateau.
CTU has been presented at the 22th annual European fair of education and lifelong learning Gaudeamus Brno 2015 from 3 to 6 November. Its interactive exhibition attracted not only visitors, but also the professional jury, which rewarded the exhibit booth with 1st place in the competition for the best stand at the fair.
AIR House, the self-sufficient experimental house designed by a team of students of the Czech Technical University in Prague under the leadership of the Faculty of Architecture, has been awarded with the Prize of the Foundation for Architecture and Civil Engineering and also with the Public Award in the Building of 2015 competition.
Ing. James Maščuch, Ph.D., of the University Center of Energy-Efficient Buildings CTU, recieved award in the “Idea” category from the hands of Pavel Bělobrádek, Deputy Prime Minister for science, research and innovation, on 1 October during a gala awards ceremony E.ON GLOBE AWARD. He and his team developed a micro-powerplant to produce electricity and heat from biomass.
Prof. Olaf Kübler, president emeritus of ETH Zurich, gave a lecture in Balling hall of the National Technical Library on 8 October. Prof. Kübler spoke about Governance Principles of benchmark universities.
Dr. Jan Rusz of the Signal Analysis, Modelling, and Interpretation Group research group, working at the Department of Circuit Theory Faculty of Electrical Engineering CTU, received the Discovery Award 2015 for progress in the use of speech disorders for diagnosis and studies of the mechanisms in neurodegenerative diseases.
CTU in Prague had again joined the traditional multinational event, the Researchers' Night. It was held on 25th September, and visitors were presented Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Information Technology and the Faculty of Architecture at the campus in Dejvice and also the Faculty of Nuclear and Physical Engineering in Prague centre.
US Ambassador Andrew Schapiro and the Minister of Education Catherine Valachová appointed new Fulbright ambassadors from the ranks of Czech graduates of this prestigious government scholarship on September 21. CTU became represented by doc. Jiri Nemecek, prof. Michal Pěchouček and prof. Pavel Tvrdík.
SScholarship by Upsilon Pi Epsilon organization has been won by the Open Informatics course graduate of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Ing. Antonín Novák. Awards is recieved annually by only thirty students from around the world.
