The award of the European Association of Steel Construction Manufacturers - ECCS is awarded in recognition to major scientists who have made a significant contribution to the development of scientific and technical knowledge in the field of structural steel constructions.
Prof. František Wald from the Faculty of Civil Engineering received the prize for his design of steel joints by finite element method with components and for his work on European models of fire exposed structures and base plates within the Technical Commissions TC3 and TC10 .
