Scientists from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of CTU are collaborating on the extension and teaching of the open computer architecture RISC-V, which can be used in many areas of IT.
A prestigious European grant of 2.7 million euros (approx. 63.5 million crowns) for research on systems for 6G networks has been awarded to an international team led by Prof. Stanislav Zvánovec from the Department of Electromagnetic Fields, FEL CTU. The project, which involves universities and companies from various European countries, was successful in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grants competition under the Horizon 2020 programme.
Some students of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering surprise their professors and supervisors with their enthusiasm. One of many examples is Bc. Petr Červenka, who studies materials engineering at the faculty and focuses on nuclear materials. His main motivation was to try to study at the best university and he succeeded.
František Vejražka, professor of the Department of Radioelectronics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University, can be called a renaissance man. 13 years ago, together with Professor Václav Hlaváč, he founded the event Meetings with Music, which opens the world of classical music to the faculty's staff and students.
Scientists from the Centre for Artificial Intelligence of FEL CTU went with robots to the Halíře ore mine. They deployed several wheeled and walking robots as part of their research into fully autonomous movement and underground exploration. They chose as the goal of the mission to model signal propagation and build an ad hoc communication network in a challenging environment. The experiment also included the creation of a detailed 3D model of the mining complex, which will be used for research purposes and for the presentation of the Regional Museum in Jílové u Prahy. Since April, the Halíře shaft, along with other mining areas in the vicinity, has been open to the public.
The local final of the third year of the project-oriented EuroTeQ Collider competition took place at Faculty of Electrical Engineering of Czech Technical University in Prague (FEL) on 3 April 2023. In this competition, 50 students in 12 interfaculty teams had the opportunity to choose solutions to 10 topics submitted by domestic companies. The overarching theme was "Leave no Waste Behind" and the competition was held in the sub-categories of cities, energy and consumption.
Over 200 students filled the largest auditorium of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE) in Dejvice on Thursday afternoon. Bohdan Zronek, a member of the Board of Directors of CEZ and Director of the Nuclear Energy Division, gave a talk as part of a cycle of lectures called Physical Thursday. As a graduate of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Zronek first reminisced about his studies at FEE and about the time when he joined the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant as a fresh graduate as an operator.
A prestigious European grant of 2.7 million euros (approx. 63.5 million crowns) for research on systems for 6G networks has been awarded to an international team led by prof. Stanislav Zvánovec from the Department of Electromagnetic Field, FEE CTU. The project, which involves universities and companies from various European countries, successfully competed for grants from the Marie Skłodowska-Curie action under the Horizon 2020 programme. The ambitious four-year project is just beginning and, according to the scientist, also represents an exciting career opportunity for future Ph.D. students in related fields.
Team of researchers from the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering published their article “Polarization Controlled Assembly of Ultrathin Thiorphan Nanostructures on ZnO Surface Facets” in Langmuir journal, which made it to the cover of the February issue and Twitter. Langmuir is a leading scientific journal focusing on the interdisciplinary research and applications of systems and materials in which the interface dominates structure and function.
The study programmes of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering offer students the opportunity to get an education in a wide range of fields and follow their dreams. One of the highly sought-after study programmes is Aeronautics and Astronautics, where students can work on interesting and concrete projects from their undergraduate studies.
