Dr. Heather Wilson, chancellor of The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), signed an extension of the cooperation agreement between FD CTU and UTEP, which is valid until 2029. Under this cooperation agreement, the only technically oriented dual-degree program between a Czech and an American university - the Dual Master's Program in Smart Cities - is ongoing.

Prof. Miroslav Svítek brought the topic of smart cities to the cooperation between CTU and UTEP. CTU Faculty of Transportation Sciences was represented at The University of Texas at El Paso by the Vice Dean for International Relations doc. Tomáš Horák. He presented the Rector with a document signed by the Dean of the faculty prof. Ondřej Přibyl. A distinguished guest at the signing ceremony was JUDr. Jan Woska, Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Washington, who came to personally support the cooperation between the faculty and UTEP. The cooperation would never have been possible without the dedicated approach of colleagues from UTEP, the head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Dr. Carlos Ferregut, and the guarantor of the dual-degree Smart Cities program at UTEP, Dr. Kelvin Cheu.
