The first National Development Day of the Czech Republic was held on Thursday 25 April. President Petr Pavel opened the day at the Czernin Palace with a morning speech, followed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský and Šimon Pánek, Director of People in Need.
A panel on Education and Awareness was held at noon where the ICWD CTU was represented by Ing. Jan Tilinger, Ph.D. He informed the attendees about the development activities at CTU, the project of the high school in Kashitu, Zambia, finally mentioned the necessity of interdisciplinary cooperation for the creation of quality projects and called on the representatives of the universities present for greater cooperation. The event was well attended by representatives of the newly established platform for academic cooperation in the field of global issues of the Network for Research on Global Development and Sustainability.
