On Thursday, February 25, 2021, the Rector of the Czech Technical University in Prague, doc. Vojtěch Petráček together with the chairman of the Prague Academic Club 48 Martin Špolec flower gifts at the memorial plaque of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in Nerudova street. The reverential meeting was held with a limited number of people and without any associated program. The participants commemorated the 73rd anniversary of the students' march for freedom and democracy to Prague Castle, which took place on 25 February, 1948.
Researchers from the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics (CIIRC) of the Czech Technical University in Prague have created a unique algorithm that can find the optimal setting of the laboratory system to evaluate as many samples as possible in the shortest possible time. Patients can thus expect the laboratory can evaluate more samples and also that they will obtain test results sooner. In response to the situation surrounding the global COVID-19 pandemic, PREVEDIG medical - a laboratory diagnostic center, Beckman Coulter - a leading supplier of laboratory analyzers and laboratory automation, and CIIRC CTU. Together, they focused on how to process more samples with the laboratory's current capacity. By optimizing and adjusting the settings of the laboratory system, it was possible to increase the number of samples in order of tens of percent.
Kateřina Průchová's diploma project Zlatá stoka, was ranked among the 12 best projects of the Young Talent Architecture Awards (YTAA) international competition. In her work created in the Novotný – Koňata – Zmek architectural studio, the author offers attractive architectural and urban solutions in the landscape around Zlatá stoka, a once indispensable water works in southern Bohemia.
After obtaining the European patent (April 2020), researchers from the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics of the Czech Technical University (CTU CIIRC) and the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (FZU AV ČR) have now obtained the US patent and have now access to the market of largest number of nuclear reactors in the world. All 94 nuclear reactors in the United States can use a patented method of protecting the surface of fuel cells from corrosion, which will extend the life of fuel cells under both emergency and standard conditions.
A document entitled "Recommended Procedures for the Admission of Academic and Research Staff and in the Organization of Competitions for CTU Managers" came into force at the Czech Technical University in Prague on 15 February 2021. It supplements the Career Rules, which will be effective from 1 April 2021, together with the new Internal Wage Regulations, which will also be effective from the beginning of April 2021.
The architectural and urban design of the new Prague East railway terminal presented by students of the Faculty of Architecture Max Petricov, Daria Vlasov, Erik Sovet and Daniiel Solovev, sponsored by architects Radek Lampa and Libor Hrdoušek, won 2nd place in the prestigious competition of the Czech Chamber of Architects. The winner was another teacher from the Faculty of Architecture, Štěpán Valouch and his colleague Jiří Opočenský from the architectural office ov-a. The announcer of this open-project single-phase architectural-urbanistic competition was the Railway Administration.
Jiří Petrželka and Kristýna Klůsová from the Faculty of Civil Engineering won the international competition Multi-Comfort House Saint-Gobain, which is intended for students of architecture and civil engineering. Natálie Pěgřímková, again from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, took second place. In addition to the financial reward, both teams are advancing with their teachers to the international round of the competition, which should take place from 9 to 12 June 2021 in Paris, if the pandemic situation allows. The third place and reward went to Nikola Puchelová and Jan Krsek, also from the Faculty of Civil Engineering. All students are from the same studio of the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, where they worked under the leadership of a team of architects of Josef Smola, Ladislav Kalivoda, Aleš Brotánek, Martin Stark and Jiří Tencar. Students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University and the Faculty of Arts and Architecture of the Technical University of Liberec took part in the Saint-Gobain competition.
The prestigious ranking of the Forbes 30 under 30 magazine, ie 30 talented, capable and successful people under the age of 30, again this year selected a student of the Faculty of Nuclear and Physical Engineering (FNSPE). This year, it is Petr Hauschwitz from the Department of Physical Electronics, who is completing his doctorate and currently working at the HiLASE Center.
Martin Mazanec, a graduate of the Faculty of Information Technology at the Czech Technical University, and his classmate Matouš Skála founded the company Fitify Workouts, which develops fitness applications. Thanks to his idea, Martin placed 30 under 30 in the prestigious Forbes Česko magazine.
The University Center for Energy Efficient Buildings of the Czech Technical University received an honorable mention for its technological, economic and social contribution in the field of energy management and environmental protection to the expert jury of the Visionaries competition organized by the CzechInno Association to support emergence of innovative products.
