Two teams from two Czech universities met in the representative premises of the CTU to receive the European Citizen Award in person. Researchers from the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics of CTU in Prague (CIIRC CTU) have already won the award in 2020 for the protective half-mask "CIIRC RP95-3D". For the year 2021, the award went to the Brno Volunteer Centre of Masaryk University for the MUNI HELPS project. The teams received their medals at a ceremony on Monday 11 October 2021 from Dita Charanzová, Vice President of the European Parliament (EP) and Chancellor of the European Citizen Award, after pandemic restrictions made it impossible to hold the event earlier.

At the trilateral science conference "German-Polish-Czech Science Platform", Prof. Dr. Vladimir Mařík, scientific director of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics (CIIRC) at the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) and DFKI CEO Prof. Dr. Antonio Krüger signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The ceremony took place in Dresden on Oct. 8, 2021, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Wolf-Dieter Lukas, State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), Petr Očko, Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, and Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Wahlster, DFKI Chief Executive Advisor.

Prof. Stephen Mark Barnett from the University of Glasgow, UK, and Prof. Wolfgang Peter Schleich from the University of Ulm, Germany, received honorary doctorates (Dr. h. c.) from the Czech Technical University in Prague at the ceremonial meeting of the Scientific Council on 5 October 2021 in Bethlehem Chapel. They were nominated by the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of CTU in Prague (FJFI) and the doctorate was presented to both of them by Prof. Igor Jex, Dean of FJFI.

A team of researchers and students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of CTU took part in an exercise of the Faculty of Military Health of the University of Defence in the military training area Tisá. The exercise included field tests of a prototype of the Digital Triage Assistant system, discussions with experts in the field of military medical rescue and tests of military equipment related to the Digital Triage Assistant project.

The Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the CTU and the Karlovy Vary Region Ambulance Service have been cooperating for several years in the field of education of future paramedics, providing them with the opportunity to practice at the ambulance bases and the medical operations centre. The Memorandum of Cooperation signed on 5 October 2021 by the Dean of the FBMI, Prof. MUDr. Jozef Rosina, Ph.D., MBA, and the Director of the KVK Ambulance Service, MUDr. Jiří Smetana, expanded the portfolio of cooperation in the field of research.

Martin Schäfer, a graduate of the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering (FJFI) and an employee of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the CAS, won the second prize of this year's Henri Becquerel Prize for Nuclear Research. Ondřej Novák from the Department of Nuclear Reactors at FJFI was third. The prizes awarded by the French Embassy in the Czech Republic were presented by Jean-Marie Lehn, Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry, Pavel Doleček, Deputy Minister for Higher Education, Science and Research (MŠMT), and French Ambassador Alexis Dutertre.

On Tuesday, 5 October, a ceremony was held at the Old Town Hall to present certificates to new graduates of the prg.ai Minor programme. The aim of the inter-university programme is to educate a new generation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) professionals. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the Faculty of Information Technology and the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University are participating in the programme. The event was attended not only by representatives of the prg.ai association and the individual faculties, but also by the Mayor of Prague Zdeněk Hřib and Prague City Councillor Vít Šimral.

Between Libčice nad Vltavou and the village of Tursko, a forgotten wooded area has come to life; students of the Hlaváček - Čeněk studio of the Faculty of Architecture have built three sitting areas. On Sunday, 3 October, they were jointly opened by the mayors of both municipalities and their guest, Věra Kovářová, a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic. The Bench, the Silo and the Chair will be used by hunters and tourists who will be brought to the landscape by the new structures.

The racing specials of the CTU in Prague student teams have traditionally been presented to the public during exhibition rides as part of the CTU Racing Day at the Dejvice campus. During the dynamic demonstrations, the CTU CarTech combustion formula car from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the electrically driven formula car controlled by the driver, as well as the autonomous eForce FEE Prague Formula from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the combustion and electric road racing motorcycles from the CTU Lions team from the Faculty of Transportation Technology were presented.

One of the biggest scientific and popular events in the Czech Republic, the Night of Scientists, took place on Friday 24 September. CTU offered its visitors interesting demonstrations at several of its faculties and university institutes, and the rich programme is still available online.
