Ambassador Tae Jin Kim of the Republic of Korea visited the VR-1 Vrabec nuclear reactor operated by the Faculty of Nuclear and Physical Engineering of CTU in Prague (FJFI) in early December 2021. He was accompanied by the Rector of CTU doc. Vojtěch Petráček, Dean of the FJFI prof. Igor Jex and Head of the Department of Nuclear Reactors Jan Rataj.

Filip Bernard, Jan Pernekr and Jan Petrš became the winners of the first year of the Dean's Awards competition for the best student projects developed in the past academic year. The award ceremony took place on 24 November during the celebration of the 45th anniversary of the re-establishment of the independent Faculty of Architecture in the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery.

A total of eight competition designs by students of the Faculty of Architecture of Czech Technical University impressed the jury of the National Award for Student Design so much that they won awards in a competition of a record 269 submitted projects. The winner was Vojtěch Veverka with his design for Bigfoot, an original ski and snowshoe in one.

The National Centre for Industry 4.0 prepared the fourth edition of the Analysis of Czech Industry 4/2021 on the occasion of independent debate of industry leaders - the Barometer of Czech Industry, which took place on 10 December. The survey was conducted in October and November 2021.

The winner of the 12th year of the competition for the best IT theses, in which nearly 1,300 students from 13 leading Czech and Slovak universities participated, has been announced. On Wednesday, 8 December 2021, an expert jury of 19 academics and IT business professionals selected the best three theses of the past academic year in an online final. The main prize went to Jindřiška Deckerová, a graduate of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of Czech Technical University in Prague, while the silver went to Patrik Goldschmidt from the Faculty of Information Technology of the Brno University of Technology, who also received the Public Award. Matúš Goliaš from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University placed third with his project.

On Tuesday, 7 December, 28 students of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of CTU, future paramedics, jointly donated blood at the Regional Hospital Kladno, including their teacher Mgr. Pavel Böhm, MBA, who organized the event.

A specially modified magnesium wire coated with a biodegradable polymer that fully dissolves in the body relieves pain of patients after heart and lung surgery. The previously used steel wire is poorly tolerated in the body. The new solution has been jointly developed by a team of scientists from the Faculty of Nuclear and Physical Engineering of Czech Technical University in Prague (FJFI), the Institute of Rock Structure and Mechanics of the CAS (ÚSMH) and the Institute of Physics of the CAS (FZÚ).

At one of the world's biggest events in the field of cyber security - the Prague 5G Security Conference - Prof. Igor Jex, Dean of the Faculty of Nuclear and Physical Engineering at Czech Technical University in Prague (FJFI) and also one of the leading experts in quantum technologies, spoke in a panel discussion. The event held on 30 November and 1 December 2021 was organized by the National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB) in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and under the auspices of the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic.

Prague public universities involved in the Study in Prague project, which aims to jointly promote programs in foreign languages, on Friday, December 3, awarded an Extraordinary Scholarship of prof. Miroslav Vlček to international degree students. The ceremony took place in the Residence of the Mayor of the Prague City Hall, which was lent to the consortium by the Mayor of Prague Zdeněk Hřib.
