As part of the expanding cooperation of the Czech Technical University in Prague with universities around the world, Rector Vojtěch Petráček was visited today by representatives of the University of Health Sciences and the Institute of Technology Cambodia.
Out of 1161 students from grammar schools and vocational secondary schools across the Czech Republic, 71 high school students competing in teams of up to three advanced to the finals of the first year of the Technology Olympics. The Technology Olympics aims to contribute to a better understanding of the trends that drive the world today and to inspire their study.
Three in ten computer users experience tingling or tingling in their wrists and impaired sensitivity in their fingers when working on the computer. The discomfort and pain may be related to carpal tunnel syndrome. Bc. Tomáš Trejdl from the Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction at the Open Information Department of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, together with Vasil Kostin from the 3rd Faculty of Medicine, are persuing a technological innovation that can help prevent this disease. They have developed a special smart mouse pad that took them to the world final of the Red Bull Basement competition in Istanbul in early March.
The inauguration of the Rector of the Czech Technical University in Prague, doc. RNDr. Vojtěch Petráček, CSc. was held in the Betlehem chapel today, who thus entered his second term of office. Together with him, six deans of the Czech Technical University in Prague were inaugurated.
After a two-year break, the 12th annual Kladno Majáles student festival was held on 21 April, organized by students of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of CTU for all students and the general public. During the afternoon, several bands took the stage, the most famous of which were The Silver Spoons and zakázanÝovoce. There was also an attractive accompanying programme for children and adults. A new feature was the Maypole weddings, which were a great success, perhaps thanks to the original rings from the 3D printer.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies (MIAS) of the CTU in Prague, a gala evening was held in the Congress Hall of Masaryk dormitory on Wednesday, 20 April. The event was attended by the Rector of the CTU, Doc. Vojtěch Petráček, members of the university management, deans and directors of CTU units, the President of the Academic Senate of CTU and members of the Scientific Council of the MIAS. The festive evening was dedicated mainly to the staff of the Institute and active students who have contributed to the good name of the institute through their studies, sports achievements or extraordinary actions.
On the occasion of celebrating the 30th anniversary of the founding of Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studues, the Rector doc. RNDr. Vojtěch Petráček, CSc. awarded doc. PhDr. Dana Dobrovská, CSc., a well-known personality of engineering pedagogy at MÚVS, with a medal for significant contributions to the development of the Czech Technical University in Prague on Wednesday, April 20, 2022.
A space called Vector Technická was inaugurated with a large turnout. Among the speakers was the rector of CTU in Prague Vojtěch Petráček. He said that he hoped for the success of the whole scientific-cultural-social event, especially seeing how many visitors came to the Hanami celebration.
The reactor vessel of the second fission reactor of the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of the CTU in Prague (FJFI) was nested in place. This will be followed by the installation of other components and the fitting of all control, monitoring and regulation elements, and the VR-2 reactor should be commissioned before the end of the year. It will thus become the tenth fission nuclear reactor in the Czech Republic.
On April 19, the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics of CTU in Prague organized a meeting of two worlds of art - music and painting - with the aim of supporting Ukraine. There was a concert by the CTU Academic Orchestra, which also featured harpists from Ukraine, and artist Martina Konvičková presented her painting Peace in Yellow and Blue, which was painted as a reflection to current events in Ukraine.
