Over the past two days, representatives of 25 partners of the new AI-MATTERS technology network, which consists of seven nodes and one satellite in eight European countries with a budget of €60 million for five years, met at Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics of CTU in Prague (CIIRC CTU). The main objective of the AI-MATTERS network, which held its first general assembly in Prague today, is to support the development of the European manufacturing industry in the introduction of advanced technologies, thereby increasing its innovation capacity and global competitiveness. The Czech node of the AI-MATTERS network is led by CIIRC CTU, which is thus becoming one of the main testing and experimentation sites for industrial applications in the field of artificial intelligence and intelligent robotics.

Under the guidance of Petr Hájek and Jaroslav Hulín, the FA students prepared the exhibition City of Electromobility. It presents 19 projects that reflect on the architectural and urban development of Mladá Boleslav. The works were created as a joint project of Faculty of Architecture of Czech Technical University in Prague and the Škoda Auto Foundation with the support of the Škoda Auto University, Mladá Boleslav and the Art-Now Foundation.
The results of the five-year project Research Center for Informatics (RCI) focused on research in artificial intelligence, robotics and informatics were presented today in Prague by scientists from Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEL), Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) and Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering (FJFI) of the CTU in Prague. In lectures and live demonstrations, they presented humanoid, wheeled, tracked and walking robots, autonomous drones, applications in bioinformatics, cybersecurity and many other topics. The research and the purchase of equipment that the teams continue to develop, including a supercomputer for artificial intelligence research, was supported by the Ministry of Education and Science's Operational Programme Research, Development, Education under the Excellence in Research call for CZK 580 million. Part of these funds were also used to involve 128 PhD students in research. A total of 252 scientists from both the Czech Republic and abroad participated in research topics supported by the RCI project.
On the third weekend in May, restoration work was carried out on the memorial plaque of Prof. Viktor Felber in Hradešínská Street in the Vinohrady city district in Prague. An expert company cleaned, degreased, polished and restored the lettering.
The competition design created at the Project Marathon succeeded in the 43rd edition of the prestigious World Architecture Award. Each year, the best of the projects are selected in the Architecture or Interior Design category. And the ICWD project - a facility for orphans in Congo - was awarded in the Student Projects category.
Professor Vladimír Kučera was elected to become a member of the elite American Philosophical Society in 2023. The Society includes less than 1000 members worldwide of which only 158 members are from abroad. Election to the Society honours extraordinary accomplishments in the fields of mathematics and physical sciences, biological sciences, social and behavioural sciences, arts and humanities, and public affairs. Professor Kučera is only the fourth Czech citizen elected to the Society after Presidents Masaryk (1936), Beneš (1939), and Havel (1995).
Representatives of the Association of Graduates and Friends of CTU put in a good performance in this year’s popular Vltava Run team race! Among the 303 teams that ran in the race this year, they took a very creditable 38th place, even though they were only able to use 11 runners after losing one team member to health problems. Three of the team members had to run four legs in the race, instead of the standard three.
The jubilee monopost of the CTU CarTech FS.15 student formula car was officially presented in the most important place of the Czech automotive industry, the Škoda Museum in Mladá Boleslav. On Monday 15 May 2023, the popular Formula 1 commentator Števo Eisele guided the protagonists and guests through the afternoon programme. With a deep knowledge of the subject, he introduced the audience to the principles and tradition of the international Formula Student competition.
The first application in the Czech Republic, making it possible to analyze the transparent accounts of political parties, cities or public figures in detail, was created by a student of the Faculty of Information Technology of the Czech Technical University in Prague (FIT CTU). The application provides clear and detailed information on account movements, names of contributors, amounts of income and expenditure, and balances. The application was developed in the faculty's OpenDataLab, run by the faculty together with Profinit.
