SACT General Phillipe Lavigne, in the company of the DefSec Innovation HUB (DSIH) team, held talks with representatives from CTU in Prague. During the meeting with Vice Rector Zbyněk Škvor, they discussed many possibilities of cooperation, both public and non-public. This was a follow-up to a summit held at CTU in August 2022 to connect the military, academia and industry.
The eForce FEE Prague Formula student racing team, based at Faculty of Electrical Engineering, has significantly advanced in the main category of the 279 university teams ranking from all over the world. Counted in the top ten European teams, it holds 17th place globally and is first among competitors from domestic universities. This is one of the best rankings in eForce team history. Students from different faculties of CTU, especially from Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, collaborate on the design of both the piloted and the autonomous electric formula cars.
Kristina Jarůšková, a PhD student from the Department of Software Engineering at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of CTU (FJFI), who is now at CERN, has made it to the prestigious Forbes 30under30 list for 2023. For the tenth time, the list features 30 talented, capable and successful people under 30 every year. And the Nuclear faculty has already had a representative within it: In 2020 it was Roberta Bimba and David Klečka, and a year later Petr Hauschwitz.
CTU in Prague has now opened a new competition-standard archery range in the Podolí dormitory area. Rector Vojtěch Petráček cut the ceremonial ribbon in the presence of Jiří Drnek, director of the Institute for Physical Education and Sport, Michal Vodička, director of CTU Service Facilities Administration, and other guests.
Tomáš Trejdl, a student of FEE CTU, is in this year's ranking of 30 under 30 in the czech edition of Forbes magazine! The twenty-five-year-old Trejdl's place in the prestigious list of 30 talented people from the Czech Republic under 30 was earned by his collaboration on the Wrest. He and his friend Vasil Kostin, a medical student at the 3rd Faculty of Medicine at Charles University, developed a special mouse pad to prevent carpal tunnel syndrome.
Students of the PhD programme at the Institute of Energy Engineering of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering help to teach and popularise nuclear energy. After their experience with the creation of a virtual model of the Cenelín nuclear reactor, they are now working on a virtual model of the Fúzelín fusion reactor. The team is led by a PhD student of the Institute of Energy Ing. Vojtěch Smolík, who can best explain the importance of the model.
Three faculties of Czech Technical University - Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Faculty of Electrical Engineering - participate in the three-year professionally oriented Bachelor's degree programme in Scenic Technologies, which applicants can enrol in at Faculty of Civil Engineering. Cooperation has also been established with the National Theatre, Czech Television and Barrandov Studios, where students of the programme will have professional practice as part of their education. The first students will be able to take a seat in the lecture halls already this September.

The Vzlusat-2 cubesat has been in Earth orbit for more than a year and contains, among other things, two detectors developed and finalised at Jaderka (Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering) and the Centre for Applied Physics and Advanced Detection Systems (CAPADS). The CAPADS detectors are also on the Socrat-R satellite, which was launched into orbit in July 2019.
The National Centre for Industry 4.0 has a new director, who is the current deputy Robert Keil. Jaroslav Lískovec coordinates the establishment of the European Centre for Digital Innovation (EDIH CTU), which cooperates intensively with the NCP 4.0 in the field of using academic infrastructure for digitalization of companies and uses its established ecosystem. Lískovec will also consult on the strategic direction of the centre. The next term of office has also been approved by the Board of Directors, with the Chairman Jiří Kabelka (DEL a.s.) and the Vice-Chairman Petr Šimoník (VŠB-TUO) defending their positions. Jana Polášek Filová (Škoda Auto a.s.) was unanimously elected to the newly created position of Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors. The new position was created in view of the growing areas of activity of the Centre.
