Czech Technical University in Prague, together with Prague public universities associated in the Study in Prague consortium, has awarded an extraordinary scholarship of Prof. Miroslav Vlček to five foreign students. The award ceremony took place on 5 December 2023 at the Mayor's Residence on Mariánské náměstí square.

The Professor Miroslav Vlček Extraordinary Scholarship has been awarded since 2021 to international students who, beyond the scope of their study obligations, contribute to spreading the good name of Czech Technical University in Prague, both in the Czech Republic and abroad, with the aim of greater internationalization of the university environment of public universities in Prague. This scholarship is a form of honouring the memory of Professor Vlček, Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics at Faculty of Transportation Sciences and long-time Vice-Rector for International Relations of CTU in Prague. From 2015 to 2019, he was the spiritual father of the idea and coordinator of the Study in Prague project, which brought together seven Prague public universities and attracted hundreds of international students to study in Prague.

This year, at a ceremony held at the Mayor's Residence, Daria Objeleanscaia, originally from Moldova, who is a 3rd year student of the Bachelor's programme in Informatics with a specialization in Computer Science at the Faculty of Information Technology, received a scholarship. "I am proud of how the university and my home faculty take care of international students and I am happy to be part of this process. International activities are very close to my heart and I will continue to do so after I graduate," she said.

Daria received the scholarship for helping to promote abroad not only her home faculty, but also for her outstanding and motivating academic performance. Daria works as a teaching assistant - helping teachers and foreign first year students with their lessons, she has contributed to the translation of the web course outline and is regularly involved in the internationalisation activities of Faculty of Information Technology.

The Study in Prague consortium also includes Charles University, the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague, the University of Economics in Prague, the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and the Academy of Arts Architecture and Design in Prague. The aim of the consortium is to jointly promote foreign language programmes and the city of Prague to applicants from abroad.
