During September 2025, three important international events took place at CTU FBME, which are closely related to the fact that the faculty has been preparing biomedical technicians and biomedical engineers for a long time, as well as to the experience that the faculty already has abroad with the introduction of biomedical engineering studies, e.g. in Cambodia.

Based on our partnership with AVDZP within the non-profit organization Czech Health Technology Institute, z.s. and within the framework of ČRA and MPO projects, two specialized courses were prepared and implemented by the Vice-Dean for Development and External Relations of CTU FBME, Doc. Hozman and team of faculty experts, in cooperation with Ing. Novák and Karolína Zemanová from CHTI. The courses focused mainly on practical demonstrations of situations from clinical practice. The first course involved seven students from the National Technical University in Kiev who are studying biomedical engineering. They spent two weeks at the faculty in laboratories, including a visit to the Apolinář maternity hospital, and one week with medical device manufacturers such as Linet, BTL, and Comedeq. This course built on the very positive experience from last year. See also https://www.czechhealth.cz/ aktuality/biomedicinsky-kurz-ma-prvni-absolventy.html  . The second course involved six biomedical engineers from Africa, specifically three from Zambia and three from Rwanda, who participated in a week-long specialized course for future trainers in the field of medical devices for maternal and child care. Great emphasis was placed on standard medical devices in neonatology, ultrasound diagnostic systems, but also on simulations, including a visit to the maternity hospital at Apolinář and manufacturers of medical devices such as Linet and Comedeq. During the second course, we also welcomed a representative of the Zambian Ministry of Health to the faculty, who toured the faculty laboratories with interest and was also interested in the lifelong learning system for biomedical engineers that has been established in the Czech Republic and leads to certification in the field of clinical engineering, which is the highest qualification for biomedical engineers. Shortly after the courses mentioned above, at the beginning of October, Prof. Roubík held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the introduction of biomedical engineering studies in Cambodia, which has been supported by the Czech Development Agency (ČRA) project for several years. Based on these activities, another visit was prepared, again in cooperation with CHTI, this time by the leadership of the Ministry of Health of Zambia, which will also be interested in the lifelong education system for biomedical engineers at our faculty at the end of October and in the transferability of the system of specialized courses to their environment in order to ensure the long-term sustainability of the activities.
