The finals of the Pangea mathematics competition took place today in the new building of the National Museum. The results were then announced in the late afternoon at the Karlín Music Theatre.

As a partner of this year's competition for pupils of grades 4-9, CTU presented its own, well-attended stand at the National Museum during the morning session. Apart from the final round, the morning also included a debate with Vladimír Koren and the launch of his new book.

Jaroslav Pollert, professor at Faculty of Civil Engineering, spoke in the afternoon lecture programme as a former canoeist and world champion in slalom on wild water. In addition to him - as part of this year's focus on sport and cinematography - tennis player Andrea Sestini Hlaváčková, football player Karel Poborský, world champion in ice climbing and keeper of polar bears at the Prague Zoo Aneta Loužecká and hockey player Jiří Šlégr presented and talked to children from all over the country. He also awarded the successful task solvers with medals, together with Prof. Pollert for the youngest categories and Senator Jiří Růžička for the older ones.

At the end, the absolute winners of the individual categories were presented with prizes from the CTU Rector Vojtěch Petráček in the completely packed Karlín Music Theatre.

We can only look forward to the next edition of this popular mathematical competition - Pangea 2025.
