Rector of CTU Vojtěch Petráček and Director of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics of CTU Ondřej Velek today welcomed the Latvian delegation - Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of Latvia Mr. Jurgis Miezainis and Senior Expert of the Ministry of Economy Ms. Angelina Bekas, who were accompanied by Deputy Ambassador to the Czech Republic Mr. Janis Vaivars.

During the meeting, the representatives of Latvia showed keen interest in nuclear development cooperation. In this context, Rector Petráček also mentioned cooperation between CTU and the American company Westinghouse and the South Korean KHNP.

We also talked about the cooperation between CTU and Riga Technical University; CTU Faculty of Civil Engineering and CTU Faculty of Architecture cooperate within the E+ International Credit Mobility Programme, and both universities are members of the Baltic University Programme.

Ms. Angelina Bekas was highly interested in space programs, and the topic of Radio Astronomy was also asked. As the Latvian delegation learned, nobody at CTU is involved in Radio Astronomy, but we have a well-developed Optical Astronomy program at Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

Another topic of the meeting was the 5G network and what experience CTU has with the use of industrial 5G network in production (technology for 5G networks is an area where Latvian companies are actively involved).

After the joint meeting, the Latvian visit headed to the CIIRC Testbed. Guided by Testbed's director Pavel Burget, Mr. Jurgis Miezainis showed great interest in how Testbed actually helps companies to implement Industry 4.0 ideas and AI technologies into their industrial production.
