Czech Technical University in Prague awarded its best students with the Stanislav Hanzel Prize on the occasion of the International Student Day on 17 November. The award ceremony took place in the Bethlehem Chapel on 28 November 2023 during the gala concert of the Czech Engineering Academy. The students received the award from the hands of the Rector of Czech Technical University in Prague doc. Vojtěch Petráček, doc. Antonín Pokorný, Chairman of the Board of the CTU Foundation Stanislav Hanzel, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering doc. Ing. Miroslav Španiel, CSc. and the Rector Emeritus of CTU prof. Ing. Petr Zuna, CSc. D.Eng. h. c.

In accordance with the legacy of the Rector Emeritus, Professor Stanislav Hanzel, the Foundation's support is directed in particular towards the modernisation of studies and deepening their compatibility with studies at European technical universities, increasing student mobility and the internationalisation of studies. This year, nine CTU students were awarded the prize for outstanding results in their studies and for scientific, professional and other significant activities.

The Stanislav Hanzel Foundation was established in 1997 in honour of the first rector of the CTU in Prague after November 1989, Prof. Ing. Stanislav Hanzel, CSc. Professor Hanzl served as Rector until his death in June 1996. The Fund receives financial resources in the form of grants, donations and contributions from cooperating organizations, companies, professional and professional associations and individuals, especially former students - graduates of the faculties of CTU in Prague. "The aim of the endowment fund is to support studies and students of study programmes accredited at the faculties and university institutes of CTU in Prague," adds doc. Ing. Antonín Pokorný, CSc., Rector Emeritus of CTU and Chairman of the Board of the Foundation Fund.

The following students were awarded this year: Jakub Šurovský from Faculty of Civil Engineering, Ing. Petr Červenka from Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Bc. Lukáš Nejezchleb from Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Bc. daniela Opočenská from Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, Mgr. Lucia Mlynčeková Tóthová from Faculty of Architecture, Ing. et Ing. Radim Dvořák from Faculty of Transportation Sciences, Ing. Christiane Malá from Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, Ing. Dominik Soukup from Faculty of Information Technology and Bc. Alexandra Svobodová from Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies.
