A one-day course on the development of pedagogical, didactic and socio-psychological skills for doctoral students at CTU was held at the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies, within the framework of the cycle of Doctoral Student Days, which is organised by the Study Support department of the Central Library of CTU.

The specialized programme was divided into six thematic blocks – An introduction to education sciences, Stress management in the work of teachers, Self-management, The teacher’s personality and communication with students, and Didactics of technical courses. At the end, there was a workshop focusing on ways of using virtual reality in teaching communication skills for future teachers. The Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies provided lectors and facilities under the leadership of David Vaněček, Ph.D.

The participants  in the course  were doctoral students and staff members of CTU at the beginning of their career as teachers. The participants evaluated the course as beneficial for their practical work, and as a very good insight into pedagogical, didactic and psychological skills. They  would welcome similar education events in the future that would work on the practical development of doctoral students’ communication and presentation skills.
