The conference Modern Practices in Distance Care and Rehabilitation Medicine has become a unique event providing an opportunity to meet experts, academics and students in the field of distance care and rehabilitation. The conference was held on 15 September 2023 and was co-organized by Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of Czech Technical University in Prague, 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University and the Section of Telemedicine of Czech Association of Medical Physics of the Czech Medical Association of J. E. Purkyně.

The conference offered participants a number of interesting lectures and discussions on modern trends and innovations in the field of distance care and rehabilitation. The conference featured two invited lectures, the first by Prof. MUDr. Martin Matoulek, Ph.D., from 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University on the topic "Telemedicine, what we can do today in practice" and the second by Doc. JUDr. Jan Kolouch, Ph.D., from CESNET association on the topic "Cyber security: obstacle or necessity?". Both were met with great interest from the audience and were appreciated with prolonged applause.

The conference also included an award ceremony for the best student papers. The special prize of CEEOR, s.r.o. was awarded to a student of the Assistive Technologies doctoral study program, Ing. Romana Svobodová. Her work was awarded for its interdisciplinary complexity, originality, depth of analysis and practical contribution in the field of cost and clinical effectiveness of distance therapy devices in rehabilitation and home care.

The best paper in the first section of the conference was awarded to a student of the Master's degree programme Systematic Integration of Processes in Healthcare, Ing. Karla Mothejlová, whose paper concerned the verification of the clinical effectiveness of the Homebalance platform in distance care of patients with balance disorders.

The best paper in the second section was awarded to a student of the Master's degree programme Biomedical and Clinical Engineering, Ing. Marek Sokol, for his research work on a feedback system for exposure therapy control in virtual reality.

The best paper in the third section was awarded to a student of the PhD programme Biomedical and Clinical Engineering, Mgr. Milada Luisa Šedivcová, who focused on the practical use of telerehabilitation platform for the elderly.
