Although it was held on a hot day that ended with a cloudburst, the was attended by crowds of visitors. In the morning, this popular science event was visited above all by large numbers of basic school pupils and middle school students. CTU, one of the co-organizers of the event, presented itself to the public on eleven stands and in two half-hour presentation blocks on the podium.

All eight faculties of the university, MIAS, the Central Library and the rectorate attracted visitors to their experiments and exhibits, where prizes were on offer for successfully carrying out tasks in competitions at the stands representing each of the faculties. In addition to the stands, CTU had also prepared two blocks of programmes on the podium, which were at the same time entertaining and informative, fully in the spirit of this festival of popular science.

The morning block, opened by Lucie Orgoníková, Chancellor of CTU, gave the stage to children from the Lvíčata Lion Cubs basic school, which is under the wing of CTU.

On each of the stands, the faculties and other elements of CTU offered a vivid presentation of various things that are being done at the university. For example, the Faculty of Civil Engineering commemorated five great historical figures who influenced history to such an extent that civil engineers still follow their examples. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering gave people an opportunity to sit in the pilot’s cabin of a real aircraft and acquaint themselves with the flight instruments and with the controls. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering offered the programming of  minirobots and electric-engine racing cars. The Faculty of Nuclear Science and Physical Engineering showed how to create a laser and make use of solar energy.

The Faculty of Architecture presented how to turn waste products into a work of art and produce, for example, a piece of jewellery. The  Faculty of Transportation Sciences' stand featured a road traffic simulator and a prototype of a motorcycle. On the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering’s stand, visitors could, for example, have their eyesight tested or inspect an ambulance featuring specialized equipment. The Faculty of Information Technologies offered the world of virtual reality, computer games and artificial intelligence.

On the stand of the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies, visitors to the Science Festival set out on a journey through the history of science and economics. The Central Library of CTU showed how everything goes back to the written word.

We thank everyone who came to this memorable event!
