On the third weekend in May, restoration work was carried out on the memorial plaque of Prof. Viktor Felber in Hradešínská Street in the Vinohrady city district in Prague. An expert company cleaned, degreased, polished and restored the lettering.

Professor Viktor Felber (1880 -1942) qualified as the first-ever doctor of technical sciences in the Czech Republic when in 1903 he presented and defended his dissertation on the Theory and  Structural Design of Rotary Pumps.

Five years later, he passed his habilitation examination in Technical Mechanics and was appointed to the post of extra-ordinary professor, and in 1919 he was appointed to the post of full professor of Mechanics and Thermomechanics at CTU. 

In 1920 – 1921, he was dean of  the University of Mechanical and Electrotechnical Engineering, and in 1930 – 1931 he was rector of CTU. In the second world war, he joined in the activities of the National Revolutionary Committee for Intelligence. However, he and his son Julius were captured, and they were both executed on June 1st, 1942 at the Kobylisy shooting range. Professor Felber lived in the villa at Hradešínská Street 1429/9 in Vinohrady, where his memorial plaque is located. A second memorial plaque is located in the hall of the the CTU building on Charles Square.

CTU regularly awards the Viktor Felber medal as its highest award for outstanding services for the development of CTU in the fields of scientific research, teaching and organisational work.

The leadership of CTU recently submitted an application for Professor Felber to be awarded honorary citizenship of the Prague 6 municipal district.
