Dean of Faculty of Transportation Sciences prof. Ing. Ondřej Přibyl, Ph.D. and CEO of AŽD Ing. Zdeněk Chrdle yesterday signed a contract on cooperation in the establishment and use of the Competence Centre, which will be built at Dětenice railway station.

The Competence Center will be a modern space that will serve as a learning center with faculty teaching programs. Students and professionals will have the opportunity to transfer their knowledge, understanding and ideas into practice. It will also include an external exhibition area presenting the latest AŽD products. Here, the most modern outdoor elements of signalling, communication and communication technologies will be installed.

"The management of AŽD decided to build a Competence Centre with the aim to develop and educate those interested in the railway industry and at the same time to present its competence and its own highly modern technologies to a wide range of interested students in specific teaching programmes to be defined by Faculty of Transportation Sciences. We want to show students high quality technologies and their development phases," said Zdeněk Chrdle, AŽD CEO, when signing the contract.

"I am very happy that we have managed to implement the initial idea of our cooperation, which was born about a year ago. The conclusion of the cooperation agreement and the subsequent construction of the Competence Centre will give our students and experts a unique opportunity to connect the acquired knowledge and expertise with practice. This is, in my opinion, the best way to motivate students to pursue their demanding but very interesting studies at technical universities. There is still a lot of work ahead of us, but I believe that our goals will be fulfilled and a unique place will be created that will be a common space for solving interesting scientific projects and proposals," said Ondřej Přibyl, Dean of the Faculty of Transportation Sciences.

The Dětenice railway station on the line Kopidlno - Dolní Bousov is an ideal place to build a Competence Centre. It is a line owned by AŽD, on which the installation of digital intelligent technology with the 4.0 designation is currently being completed. It is the most modern Czech systems in the field of signalling, communication, control and communication technologies for the railway.

Currently, design work has begun and construction is expected to start within a month. The Competence Centre should be inaugurated at the Dětenice railway station in the first quarter of 2024.
