This year‘s Vektor Technická got under way on April 18th, with a cross-campus race and the International Day festival. After the race, the Dukla band and soloist Bariel played their music for everyone.

The 8th annual Cross-Campus race was started by Radek Holý, CTU vice-rector for quality management, and Jan Lacina, deputy mayor of the Prague 6 city district. Thirty-six teams and 152 runners competed in the relay race over a 1.1 km-long course. Students and staff of all Campus Dejvice member institutions took part, as well as teams formed by members of the public.

At the same time, International Day, a festival celebrating the international community on the Dejvice campus, was being held in Technická Street. There were presentations of opportunities for study and internships abroad, and presentations of different cultures  and travel experiences  by the community of students from abroad. Everyone - competitors in the race and their supporters - enjoyed a day with plenty of entertainment, food, games, music and sport, in spite of the rather cool weather.

Technická Street livens up from the middle of April until the end of October, with a rich programme of open-air cultural events, talks and workshops. The next event is on Wednesday, April 26th, when you can come and celebrate the Japanese spring festival of Hanami, which is linked with the blossoming of the beautiful Japanese sakura cherry trees in Technická Street. This will be the 24th time that this festival has been celebrated in Dejvice.

The Vektor Technická project offers a pleasant location with a coffee bar and a bistro, where the student campus merges naturally with the adjacent Dejvice city district. Vektor Technická brings together six institutions linked by the Dejvice Campus platform: CTU in Prague, the Catholic Theological Faculty of Charles University, the Prague 6 city district, the National Technical Library, the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Academy of Sciences, and the University of Chemistry and Technology. The aim is to make the Dejvice area attractive, and to bring student, scientific and social life together in natural and entertaining ways.
