After a two-year break, the University Information Centre was reopened yesterday at the CTU rectorate. The ribbon was ceremoniously cut by the Rector of CTU Vojtěch Petráček.

The CTU Information Centre used to be located on Technical Street, in the so-called Air House, but not in a completely satisfactory environment. Therefore, CTU decided to build a completely new centre. Petr Franta, the architect of the reconstruction and extension of the building in Jugoslávských partzánů Street, which now houses, among other things, the university rector's office, also designed the current design of the information centre. However, its opening was delayed, for example, because - as rector Vojtěch Petráček recalled at the opening ceremony - it was practically impossible to obtain the necessary amount of glass to build the information stand during the covid period.

"The information centre is very visible from the main avenue, so I really hope that not only those interested in the CTU, but also random pedestrians will come here and make themselves happy with some object with our logo, the offer is varied," said Petráček. He also reminded that in addition to all the information, this establishment is also a shop selling promotional items of the CTU, and tickets for cultural events organized by the university will also be available for purchase here (before Christmas, for example, tickets for the New Year's concert of the CTU in Rudolfinum). Last but not least, the information centre is also a dispensing point for items ordered via the e-shop (www.eobchod.cvut.cz). "We are planning to build another information centre connected with a café in the recently purchased Fragner Gallery," added Rector Petráček.

Yesterday's opening ceremony included the presentation of a cheque for CZK 5,000 to the winner of a summer Facebook competition called "Take CTU on holiday". The competition was between pictures of people photographed with CTU promotional items while on vacation, and the highest number of likes was enough to win. Rector Petráček handed over the cheque to CTU Faculty of Civil Engineering student Amalia Št'astná, whose photo from Berlin received 296 likes. The winner of the competition plans to buy things for her two friends who were in the picture with her. "I will definitely buy sweatshirts, backpacks and a tie," Amalia knew right away.

The information centre at Jugoslávských partzánů 3, Prague 6 (reception A) will be open daily from 9:00 to 16:30, on Fridays until 14:00.
