President Miloš Zeman appointed new rectors of eleven universities at Prague Castle on 26 January 2022. The current rector of the Czech Technical University doc. Vojtěch Petráček was among them, elected by the CTU Academic Senate as the person nominated for rector on 27 October 2021. Doc. Petráček's new and second term of office will begin on 1 February 2022 and will last until 2026.

Representatives of the academic senates of four universities elected the current rectors to office, while the other seven universities will have their rectors replaced. Among the newly appointed rectors is Prof. Milena Králíčková, who will replace Prof. Tomáš Zima at Charles University as the first woman to head the school. At the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, Prof. Tomáš Vaňek will be replaced by Maria Topolčanská, and at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno, Prof. Petr Oslzlý will be replaced by Petr Michálek. Prof. Libor Čapek will become the Rector of the University of Pardubice, replacing Prof. Jiří Malek. At the Mendel University in Brno, Prof. Vojtěch Adam won the election, succeeding Prof. Danuša Nerudová, and at the Brno University of Technology, Prof. Petr Štěpánek will be replaced by Doc. Ladislav Janíček.

The current Rector of the Czech University of Life Sciences iin Prague, Prof. Petr Sklenička, was nominated for the position again. New rector will also be appointed at the Technical University of Liberec, where the candidate is doc. Miroslav Brzezina.  prof. Alois Nečas will remain rector of the Veterinary University Brno.

The newly elected rector of the University of Economics, Petr Dvořák,still awaits the  presidential appointment, he will replace Prof. Hana Machkova on 1 April 2022.
