The Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL) was established in 1966 by the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to promote new technologies by testing and evaluating them and to create new standards. It is now focusing on the area of new Industry 4.0 technologies and the application of artificial intelligence. KTL is also an important link in pushing 5G mobile networks into the management of modern manufacturing processes. These are also the strengths of CIIRC CUT in Prague, where within the unique Industry 4.0 Testbed with the newly implemented first stand-alone 5G private network, CIIRC is experimenting and within the National Industry 4.0 Centre supporting the dissemination of these technologies to industrial companies in the Czech Republic and the creation of joint use cases.

After a speech by Moon Jae-in, President of the Republic of Korea, at the V4-Korea Business Forum, Dr. Ondřej Velek, Director of CIIRC CTU, and Dr. Se-jong Kim, President of KTL, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 3 November 2021. Moon Sung Wook, the Korean Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, directly participated in the ceremony.

"This is an important step following the visit of the Korean delegation to our country two years ago. We feel there is a great interest on the Korean side to integrate the new Industry 4.0 processes into production to the maximum extent and this is exactly also our goal. Korea is a world leader in 5G networks, so I very much welcome the exchange of experience in this area. At the same time, KTL is an important partner of many industrial companies, so I see opportunities to involve these Korean companies operating in the Czech Republic in our activities," said Dr. Ondřej Velek on the content of the memorandum.

The cooperation between CIIRC CTU and KTL was also supported by the Rector of CTU, Associate Professor Vojtěch Petráček, adding that the established contacts may be useful for other sections of the CTU.
