The building of the CTU University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings (UCEEB) was presented in the eighth annual Green Roof of the Year competition, in which it won an honorable mention for research for Metrostav.

The expert jury evaluated a total of sixteen buildings entered in the competition. The CTU University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings received an honorable mention for its experimental roof, which consists of 24 test areas completed in 2018. Here, in cooperation with Metrostav, long-term testing of different types of vegetated roofs is being carried out to assess their compositions with regard to reliability of function, maintenance requirements and other properties. The findings contribute to energy-efficient cooling of buildings and their surroundings during hot days.

The aim of the competition is not only to draw attention to the possibility of greening roofs, but above all to show that there are many enlightened investors in the Czech Republic who envision green roofs on their buildings, capable designers who can design them and quality companies that can build green roofs.
