For his significant lifelong work in the field of medical biophysics and medical informatics and his many years of scientific and pedagogical activities, Prof. MUDr. Jozef Rosina, Ph.D., MBA, Dean of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Czech Technical University, was awarded a silver medal at a regular meeting of the Scientific Council of Charles University on 27 May 2021 Charles University.

Professor Rosina has been associated with Charles University for 34 years of his professional life. After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine and working for five years at the Center for Radiation Hygiene of the State Institute of Public Health, he joined the then Institute of Biophysics of the 3rd Medical Faculty in 1987, where he gradually passed through all positions as teachers and scientists. In addition, between 1987 and 1997 he worked as a physician at the Department of Nuclear Medicine, 3rd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and FNKV. Since 2008, his academic life has also been connected with the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Czech Technical University, where he gradually served two terms as dean, then one term as vice-dean and now again from 2020 the dean of this faculty. 

He is a member of the Assembly of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, a member of the scientific councils of several faculties and institutions and a member of several branch councils of doctoral studies at Czech and Slovak universities. He also works as a member of the editorial board of the Clinican and Technology magazine. He is a co-author of a number of publications and monographs, and has given 60 lectures abroad. Professor Rosina is also a popular pedagogue, who during his life participated in the preparation of several generations of students of the 3rd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. 

The commemorative medal was handed over by the rector of Charles University, prof. MUDr. Tomáš Zima, DrSc., MBA. In addition to Professor Rosina, it was received by the following five personalities: Professor Terezie Fučíková, Professor Miloš Grim, Professor Martin Krbec, Professor Ivan Landor and Professor Aleš Žák.
