Compared to previous years, when the task of students was to design, for example, a lookout tower, exhibition hall or an interesting building in an unusual place in Prague, the specific assignment may have been a bit surprising for the competitors. They had to design five sections of an apartment building on the square of a residential area on the site of the current Westpoint complex in Prague 6, where Central Group plans to build a unique project with more than 2,000 apartments and a number of shops, services, restaurants and cafes. Atelier Jakub Cigler Architekti has already developed an urban and architectural concept for the given area for the given area. The masses and heights of the apartment buildings were thus already given to the competitors and it was not possible to change them significantly. They also had to respect the layout of houses and the composition of housing units, which corresponds to the required business model of the investor, they could change them only minimally, by shaping the facade.
Students had to deal with both the conditions and the fact that this time, in view of the pandemic, they usually lacked the opportunity to consult with teachers. The competition was stated that if the proposals of the student competition attract the investor, space will be opened for negotiations on further possible cooperation, or even the use of an architectural solution in the new district.
Vítězi 13. ročníku soutěže se stali Pavla Hanousková a Ondřej Čeliš, studenti druhého ročníku magisterského studia Fakulty stavební ČVUT. Odborná porota se pro jejich návrh rozhodla jednomyslně. Od společnosti Central Group získali odměnu 100 tisíc korun, velmi si však cení i druhé části odměny, a to možnosti stáže v ateliéru architekta Pavla Hniličky. Zde dokonce došlo díky iniciativě zadavatele soutěže a vstřícnosti architekta Hniličky k drobné výjimce v pravidlech, v nichž se totiž uvádí, že v případě vítězství týmu se stáže může zúčastnit pouze jeden zástupce. V tomto případě dostali tuto možnost oba autoři.
The winners of this year´s competition were Pavla Hanousková and Ondřej Čeliš, students of the second year of master's studies at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Czech Technical University. The expert jury decided on their proposal unanimously. They received a reward of 100 thousand crowns from Central Group, but they also very much appreciate the second part of the reward, namely the possibility of an internship in the studio of architect Pavel Hnilička. Thanks to the initiative of the contracting authority and the helpfulness Mr. Hnilička, there was even a small exception here in the rules, which state that in the event of a team's victory, only one representative can participate in the internship. In this case, both authors were given this opportunity.
Laura Izabela Lukáčová and Miroslav Slezák from the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University won the second place with a prize of 50 thousand crowns, while the third place and a bonus of 25 thousand crowns belong to Matouš Pluhař and Ondřej Pecháček, also from the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University.
