The design of the LUNA portable night light brought Lucia Koháková, junior student of the Design program at the Faculty of Architecture in the Graduation Projects 2020 international competition in the 3D Design category. Her classmate Jan Kulhánek from the master's degree program finished second with his diploma thesis, in which he designed a ferry for Prague - Vokoun.

The students succeeded in the competition of 243 diploma and bachelor's theses of students from the Visegrad countries, ie from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. The results of the 19th year of the competition were announced online this time, the thirty best-awarded works will be exhibited at Cieszyn Castle in Cieszyn, Poland, which is the organizer of the competition.

Lucie Koháková worked on her bachelor's thesis in the Karel - Šafařík studio. Her LUNA luminaire is primarily intended for use in night care for young children. When the baby needs to be fed, you just need to touch the organic light object located near the bed and turn it on. Dim orange light with the absence of blue and green spectral components has beneficial effects on the sleep quality of both the child and the parent. "The biggest benefit of the work for me was that I was able to gain insight on the issue of lighting, especially the effect of light on visual comfort and human health. This inspired me to adjust my own lifestyle and be more careful when choosing home lighting, "says Lucie Koháková.

The second-placed Jan Kulhánek, who, by the way, recently received special recognition in the Czech Design Award competition for the design of his carafe, this time he succeeded in the competition of final theses, with his diploma thesis Vokoun - a transport ship for Prague, which he worked on in the studio Jaroš - Bednář.

The Vokoun transport ship is 9 meters long, its draft does not exceed 50 centimeters and it has a built-in engine with an output of 22 kW. It is therefore classified as a small vessel and is used to transport 12 people. In the design, Jan Kulhánek focused primarily on safety, comfort and easy maintenance. He combined the traditional and modern design of the ship and followed the visual of Prague's public transport. "The aim of my work is to design a river ship that will bring people closer together and leave passengers with positive emotions and a magical moment that can only be experienced from the surface of Prague´s Vltava," describes Jan Kulhánek.
