The Uniqway carsharing project was inaugurated in October 2018. Since then, university and college students and educators have traveled over 200,000 kilometers. The shared fleet includes Škoda Fabia, Scala and Kamiq. During the operation of the service, 2000 users from 21 universities have registered from 44 countries.

Uniqway is the first purely university carsharing in Europe. More than a year after its launch, the student team of the Czech Technical University in Prague, the University of Economics in Prague and the Czech University of Life Sciences can document a successful start: the service has 17 cars per 2,000 users. Further expansion of the fleet is coming soon. Most of the total of 200,000 kilometers were driven by students and educators mainly in Prague, but borrowing for the whole weekend for trips outside Prague or even abroad is no exception. Uniqway cars thus looked to Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Austria and Italy. Most rides start on Wednesdays and Fridays. The number of trips is led by a user who has 130 loans on his account.

A valid student ISIC card or some other identification cards of students and teachers are authorized to use the service. Applicants must have the data checked at one of the contact points, and then the application can book the car and unlock it via the card reader on the windscreen. Cars are only rented and returned in the zones indicated on the map in the app. The zones adapt to the needs of students and are situated mainly at university campuses. Prices start at CZK 4.90 per kilometer and CZK 29 per hour. It is therefore a combination of time and distance payment. Time billing is capped at 10 hours per day. The fleet's action radius is not within the EU, resp. Schengen area is not limited.

The Uniqway student team, supported by ŠKODA AUTO DigiLab, currently consists of 40 members who come from three universities: the technical development of the service is provided by CTU students; operation support is partly provided by students of Czech University of Life Sciences and marketing, PR and HR are secured by VŠE students. Thus, students are offered the opportunity to test their theoretical knowledge in practice.Foto zdroj: ŠKODA AUTO
