The CTU Alumni and Friends Association organized a lecture by the leading Czech astronomer and astrophysicist Dr. Jiří Grygar on Wednesday, 13 June. During the lecturehe dealt with the questions like: Does our universe really expand? Can there be more universes? If so, are they like ours? He also talked about multiverse theory, dark matter, dark energy, gravitational waves. He also mentioned the Sysifos club of which he is a member.

Jiří Grygar works in the Department of Astro-Particle Physics of the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. He has published more than 200 scientific papers (the subject of his research is photometry and the spectroscopy of stars, interplanetary matter and astro-particle physics) and a number of popular-educational publications. He is the author, co-author and contributor of many radio and television educational programs and author of articles in magazines, newspapers and the Internet. Since 1966, every year, he has compiled an overview of the most important astronomical discoveries of the past year under the name of Harvest of discoveries, which he presents at lectures and then publishes in the press.
