Diploma works of Ing. arch. Filip Galko and Ing. arch. Veronika Indrová succeeded in the Young Talent Architecture Award (YTAA) 2018. They were among the top 40 out of the 334 nominated best diploma projects by schools of 32 countries selected by international jury. Filip Galko was a student of Stempel & Beneš Studio, Veronika Indrova studied at Novotny - Koňata - Zmek Studio, both of which are part of the Design Institute I.

A total of 334 diploma projects from 32 countries, 118 schools and 451 authors  were nominated in the competition. Jury´s selection was gradually narrowed the number to 40 best projects, then 8 finalists and up to 4 absolute winners whose names will be published in June. The shortlisted results were announced on 24 May at Palazzo Mora during opening of the YTAA 2018 exhibition on the occasion of the commencing of the 16th International Biennale of Architecture in Venice, 2018. Both Czech diploma projects will be on display at the Venice Biennale until 25 November.

The Biennal showcase of the best diploma works of the Young Talent Architecture Awards is organized by Miese van der Rohe Foundation in Barcelona with Creative Europe as an extension of the biennial European Prize for Contemporary Architecture - the Mies van der Rohe Award, the most prestigious European architectural competition. The Foundation is a founding member of the European Cultural Center in Venice, and the YTAA is organized in cooperation with the European Association of Architectural Schools (EAAE), the European Architects Council (ACE-CAE) and the World Architects platform.

The competition aims to support the talents of freshly graduated architects, urban designers and landscape architects who will be involved in the future transformation of our living environment. YTAA was born out of interest in care, development and support of the most talented students before they enter professional life.

Diploma thesis by Filip Galko, designed in the studio led by Professor Stempel and architect Ondřej Beneš, is titled Lasvit Flagship Store Showroom Prague and represents the vision of the main showroom of this brand.

Veronika Indrová worked on her diploma thesis within the studio led by architects Tomáš Novotný, Jakub Koňata and Tomáš Zmek. She dealt with the idea of solution of Masaryk Stadium in Strahov, one of the largest and unused brownfields on the territory of the capital city of Prague.
