On 27 February, the inauguration ceremony of the new Rector of the Czech Technical University, doc. RNDr. Vojtech Petráček, CSc. and deans of four CTU faculties took place in Betlehem Chapel.

Doc. RNDr. Vojtěch Petráček, CSc. graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University. He joined CTU In 2004 as an assistant professor in the field of experimental nuclear physics at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering. In 2007, he became Associate Professor and also Scientific Director of the Center for Basic Research for the Physics of Ultra-Relativistic Nuclear Collisions. He was elected Rector by the Academic Senate of CTU on 25 October 2017 with effect from 1 February 2018.

Four Deans were also inaugurated in addition to the new rector: the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, prof. Ing. Jiří Máca, CSc.; the Dean of the Faculty of Nuclear and Physical Engineering, prof. Ing. Igor Jex, DrSc.; Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, prof. Ing. Ladislav Lábus, Hon. FAIA; and Dean of the Faculty of Transportation Technology, doc. Ing. Pavel Hrubeš, Ph.D.

During the ceremony, the rector emeritus Prof. Ing. Petr Konvalinka, CSc., FENg. gave speech, the chairman of the CTU Academic Senate doc. Ing. Jan Janoušek, Ph.D. presented the process of selecting a candidate for the Rector of CTU in Prague. After the inauguration, the CTU rector doc. RNDr. Vojtěch Petráček, CSc gave his speech. The Dean of the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering prof. Ing. Igor Jex, DrSc., gave speech on behalf of the four inaugarated deans. The guest speakers were the President of the Czech Conference of Rectors and Rector of Charles University, prof. MUDr. Tomáš Zima, DrSc., MBA, Deputy Manager of the Operational Programs Section of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic PhDr., Mgr. Václav Velčovský, Ph.D., Vice-Chairman of the CTU Board Ing. Jaroslav Míl, MBA, and Mayor of Prague 6 Mgr. Ondřej Kolář.

Several important guests were present at the inauguration, such as representatives of the Ministry of Education, the Academy of Sciences and diplomatic corps, rectors and vice-rectors of 26 Czech universities, representatives of industry, representatives of professional associations, CTU members and many others.
