On 26 October, the Committee on Territorial Development, Public Administration and the Environment of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, in cooperation with the CTU Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies, organized Digital Economy and Society international conference. Besides the top officials of the state administration, those who attended were the rector of the Czech Technical University in Prague, prof. Petr Konvalinka, Mayor of Prague Adriana Krnáčová, as well as CEOs of Czech Radio and Czech Television René Zavoral and Petr Dvorak. The morning program was opened by the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Zbyněk Linhart, at the Knights Hall of the Wallenstein Palace in Prague.

The main themes of the conference were the shared economy, digitialisation of state and public administration and digitalisation of public service in the media sphere. Representatives of the state administration, higher territorial self-governing units and electronic public service media have been discussing the many opportunities and threats posed by the rapid take-up of digital technologies. The plenary session was concluded by Lenka Švecová, director of the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies, CTU.

The afternoon program of the conference was divided into three thematic sections. The panel devoted to the digitization of state administration was moderated by prof. Jaromír Veber, a panel on the use of the possibilities offered by digitization in the sphere of smart cities, was directed by Tomáš Hudeček and the panel on public service media in the digital era was chaired by Nikolaj Savicky. Through this conference, like many other activities, the Czech Technical University in Prague demonstrates the importance of timely and properly respond to the emergence of new technologies that fundamentally affect the development of the economy and the functioning of civil society.
