In the week of April 3 to 7, with significant expert contribution of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics at Czech Technical University, a robotic mission to Japan was held. Its aim was to expand scientific cooperation under the Industry 4.0 to establish closer contacts with similar Japanese initiative, Robotic Revolution Initiative.

Participants visited the robotics department at universities of Tsukuba and Nagoya, State Research Institute AIST in Tsukuba, an affiliate of the National Institute of Informatics in Tokyo, as well as research headquarters of Toyota and Mitsubishi Electric. Part of the mission was also about preparing applied research joint program between Technology Agency of the Czech Republic and Japanese NEDO Agency. During their stay, the head of the mission, prof. Vladimír Mařík, former ambassador Karel Žebrakovský, accompanied by Ambassador Tomáš Duba were granted audience by Her Imperial Highness, Princess Hisako Takamado, who showed special interest in the development of Japan-Czech academic cooperation and pledged her support for a joint Czech-Japanese professional events.
