Results of the Best CTU sportsmen of the year 2016 poll were announced at the CTU Christmas Concert, held at the Betlehem Chapel on 15 December. First three places belong to Ing. Jan Přidniš, Bc. Petr Šlajs and Kristiina Mäki.

The first place was taken by student of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering , Ing. Vít Přindiš, winner of the first place in K1 water slalom at the European Championship in patrols, 11th place in the individual race at the European Championships, 2nd place in overall scoring at the World Cup and 1st place at the Czech Cup.

Second place goes to Bc. Petr Šlajs from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, world champion in 450 meters winter swimming in Russia's Tyumen, where he had also taken the 2nd place at the 200 meter track. The race was attended by athletes from 42 countries.

Third place belongs to athlete Kristiina Mäki from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, who had ran the 9th best time for the 5000 meter race at the European Championships in Amsterdam and won 11th place at the indoor World Championships in Portland. Kristiina is also a double champion of Finland in the 5,000 and 1,500 meter run.

The fourth best CTU athlete for the year 2016 is Ing. Jan Tesař from the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering. He finished fourth at the European Championships in Amsterdam in the  4 x 400 meter relay race, second at the Czech indoor relay run championship and also finished second at the Czech Championship in 400 meter outdoor run.

The fifth award-winning athlete is Bc. Lukáš Gdula, student of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering , who had represented the Czech Republic in walking at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and participated in the World Championships in team walking. His achievements also include the 1st place at the Czech Championship in 50 and 20 kilometer walk.
