Through its programs, the Fulbright Commission supported Czech scientists and students in the upcoming academic year as well. The scholarship of program for scientists and university staff was awarded to prof. Jan Holub of Faculty of Information Technology and Ing. Martin Doškář from the Faculty of Civil Engineering was awarded with student scholarship. Professor Jeffrey Frolík will come to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering as Fulbright Distinguished Chair .

A total of 13 American academics will be coming as guests to the Czech Republic this year. Professor Frolík  who will lecture at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, works at the School of Engineering at the University of Vermont which is mainly engaged in sensor networks and wireless communications. As part of the study program Electronics and Communications, he will be teaching subjects dealing with the propagation of waves in wireless communications.

The Fulbright Fellowship program was founded in 1946. Since then, it hosted 300,000 students, scientists and teachers. Among former participants of Fulbright programs, one can find laureates of Nobel Prize and Pulitzer Prize, governors and senators, ambassadors, artists, judges, premiers and heads of state, prominent professors and scientists. Each year, approximately 8,000 scholarships are awarded. Within the basic program for scientists and university teachers, the US sends 800 workers to 130 countries each year. The most prestigious award is currently the Distinguished Chair, with only 40 awarded annually and 4 of them in the Czech Republic. Partners include Charles University, Masaryk University, Palacky University and Czech Technical University in Prague. This program is funded by the governments of the Czech Republic, USA and host institutions.

The Fulbright Commission is already active for 25 years in the Czech Republic. During that time it has supported nearly 900 Czech scientists and students and 700 fellows from the US.
