CTU held the 18th annual Science Week at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering on 19 - 24 June. The event was attended by 151 students from dozens of high schools from the Czech and Slovak Republics. 48 miniprojects , 14 tours and 17 popular science lectures were waiting for them.

The event kicked off with a welcome party themed after the popular french show, Fort Boyard. Students familiarized themselves with faculty´s facilities and its employees. During the week, they had worked on their miniprojects and learned about the scientific environment outside school. At the lectures, the young scientists learned interesting facts on nuclear physics, thermonuclear fusion and fission and radiation chemistry or mathematics.

Science Week continues the tradition of Physics of the Week events from 1999 to 2009. It is primarily aimed at talented students, motivated in physics, mathematics, chemistry and informatics that consider studies at technical and natural sciences universities. The main scope is to introduce scientific way of communication, demonstration of selected natural phenomena for a deeper understanding of theoretical material presented and to inform about peak research topics in the Czech Republic.
