The course responds to the societal need to deepen knowledge in the field of real estate development for private companies, state administration and local government. Its content contributes to the optimization of the use of real estate assets, and thus to increase the profitability of investments and the efficiency of planning and construction processes. At the same time, it aims to contribute to mutual understanding and improved cooperation between public and private sector entities in the real estate market and the built environment.
"With the abolition of the central planning system, we have also rejected planning as such, giving us a kind of unplanned development. This has caused a backlash, often in the form of rejection of development in general. Of course, for an environment to work, it needs constant investment and care," says Professor Michal Kohout from Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague, the guarantor of the Integrated Urban Development study programme.
The uniqueness of the program lies mainly in the integration of diverse areas of the real estate market. Its focus is suitable for those who are involved in shaping the built environment, construction or management of real estate assets (e.g. architects, concept designers, developers, investors, investment or asset management staff, industry experts, property owners and others).
"Development brings together people from completely different fields. It is not possible to get a full degree in this field today, so people entering it come from their original expertise. Very successful developers are those who succeeded in their original field and for various reasons decided to move on," summarises Tomáš Kadeřábek, director of the Association of Developers.
The pilot courses were held in 2023 and 2024. The course is co-organised by the Prague Development Company, p.o. (PDS). Participants will have the chance to gain information and practical skills directly from Petr Urbánek, the director of PDS, which he has acquired thanks to his long experience in residential and commercial development and the current preparation of housing construction for the capital city of Prague. The Association of Developers is also an expert partner and the patronage was taken over by doc. Ing. arch. Petr Hlaváček, Deputy Mayor of the City of Prague for Territorial Development and Urban Planning.
Applications for the new course "Real Estate Development - Building" are open until the end of September 2024. The courses are organized by Faculty of Architecture of CTU in cooperation with Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies of CTU. More detailed information can be found HERE.
