Prof. Páta plans to smoothly continue his work from the first term in office, when under his leadership, FEL CTU managed to implement a number of positive changes to improve the conditions for the functioning of the faculty and to be able to respond to changes in its environment.
Petr Páta considers one of the most important achievements of the previous period to be the opening of the faculty not only for applicants to study electrical engineering and computer science, but also for the general public. In addition, under his leadership, the school has obtained institutional accreditations: the FEL guarantees two areas of education (Electrical Engineering, Cybernetics) and participates in three others (Informatics, Energy Engineering, Health Sciences). "I am pleased that the staff and students have confidence in my long-term vision for the future direction of the faculty," said Prof. Páta.
The vision of Prof. Páta's dean project for the next four years is "continuous progress and a long-term perspective". Among the nine main strategic points, he mentions, for example, finding a long-term and sustainable solution for the indoor laboratories in Dejvice and the campus on Charles Square; strengthening the digital infrastructure that will simplify work, not complicate it; developing cooperation with graduates through the Alumni Programme; and last but not least, creating a friendly and motivating environment for employees, including opportunities for career growth and the introduction of a benefits system.
Prof. Mgr. Petr Páta, Ph.D. (born 1973) graduated from Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague. He has been working at Faculty of Electrical Engineering of CTU since 1996, currently as Dean. Before that he was the Head of the Department of Radioelectronics at the faculty . His research interests include image photonics, scientific image data compression, acousto-optic and optical systems with spatially variant PSF or hyperspectral imaging.
Faculty of Electrical Engineering of CTU is one of the top educational and scientific institutions in the Czech Republic. More than three thousand faculty students are not only educated in computer science and electrical engineering, but also have an unusually early opportunity to engage in research and development in the areas of technological trends that will shape the future of society. Whether it is nanotechnology, artificial intelligence and energy, or telecommunications networks, bioinformatics or space technology - all of these future phenomena can be studied at FEL. Both the field of electrical engineering and, more recently, the field of computer science at CTU are ranked as the best in the Czech Republic in the prestigious international QS Ranking.
