The faculties and units of CTU together with the charitable organization Recruiting Heroes are looking for new bone marrow donors. Our goal is not only to expand recruitment to the Czech National Bone Marrow Donor Registry, but also to raise awareness of the importance of donation. This is a unique event where on one day, namely 6 November 2024, six sites in Prague and Kladno will be available at Czech Technical University in Prague where interested people can register all day long.

Where?

  • Faculty of Civil Engineering  – Thákurova 7, Praha 6
  • Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering – Technická 2, Praha 6
  • Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics – Jugoslávských partyzánů 1580, Praha 6, entrance B3
  • Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering – Trojanova 339, Praha 2 (9.00–13.30), Břehová 7, Praha 1 (14.00–16.00)
  • Faculty of Transportation Sciences – Horská 3, Praha 2
  • Faculty of Biomedical Engineering – Sportovců 2311, Kladno (9.00–12.00 ), Sítná square 105, Kladno (12.30–16.00)

Who are we searching for?

Are you aged 18-35, weigh over 50 kg and are in good health? Then you are the ideal candidate! All you need is 10 minutes of your time, fill in a short questionnaire and have a sample taken from your mouth with a cotton swab.

Why is this important?

  • One in four patients in need of a bone marrow transplant does not have a donor on the registry with the necessary genetic match. Help change their fate and become a hero!
  • A patient who is about to undergo a bone marrow transplant has no other hope of recovery.
  • Registration does not mean donation; only about 1% of all registrants donate.
  • You can donate in two ways: a needle puncture from the pelvic bone under full anesthesia or by separating directly from the blood, which looks similar to donating blood plasma and doesn't hurt!
