Thanks to an agreement between the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MŠMT) and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), students from Czech universities have a better chance of succeeding in selection procedures for the research organization's student programmes. Applications must be submitted by 11 October 2021 at noon and are open to PhD students as well as Master's and Bachelor's students.

"For example, students of the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering (FJFI) have a great chance to get to CERN thanks to the focus of virtually all study programmes and thus expand the ranks of those who have gained this exceptional experience. Therefore, I can only recommend practically everyone to take advantage of this opportunity," says Doc. Jaroslav Bielčík from the Department of Physics at FJFI.

CERN is particularly interested in students in fields such as applied physics, IT, engineering, electronics, robotics, mathematics, etc. However, there are also opportunities for students in so-called administrative fields. The duration of the internship is from 2 to 12 months. The internships are remunerated by CERN at a rate of CHF 3 300 per month.

CERN's PhD programme allows students, mainly from engineering disciplines, to work on their dissertation at CERN. Students working in fields such as applied physics, IT, mechanical engineering, electronics, robotics, mathematics, etc. can apply for the internship. The duration of the internship is from 6 to 36 months.

CERN Technical Programme is designed for students at bachelor's and master's level. Students working in fields such as applied physics, IT, engineering, electronics, robotics, mathematics, etc. can apply for a traineeship. The duration of the internship is from 4 to 12 months. Up to 120 students are selected for the programme each year.

CERN's Administrative Programme is aimed at students of economic and humanities disciplines such as law, finance, economics, logistics, interpreting, HR, etc. The duration of the internship is from 2 to 12 months.
