The virtual Qminers Quant Hackathon 2020 will be held on 28 November, jointly organized by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the startup Qminers. The competition is intended for all students who dare to face difficult programming challenges. The goal of the hackathon is to use machine learning in algorithmic trading, and thus beat the sports bookmaker. The winners will share the amount of CZK 100,000. The online hackathon will take place in two phases, the testing itself will take place from 1 to 27 November, and the finals will be held and winners will be announced on 28 November.

During a hackathon, competitors become professional sports bookmakers in order to win as much money as possible. For a month, they get real data on football (soccer) results, apply machine learning methods to them and choose a suitable betting strategy against a virtual bookmaker. The top 20 teams will eventually compete in the online hackathon finals on 28 November. Those who gain the most money from betting using predictive modeling will also receive a real financial reward of CZK 60,000, CZK 30,000 and CZK 10,000.

Registration of teams is open until 31 October at www.qqh.fel.cvut.cz.
