For the third time, CTU will join the republic-wide Night of Scientists. It will take place on 30 September from 17.00 to 23.00 hours. Visitors can learn about interesting projects dealing with Safety topic, developed by our faculties. The Dejvice campus will feature Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Transportation Sciences and Faculty of Information Technology, but Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering on Břehová Street will be open to public as well. Visitors will be offered a unique opportunity to look in areas and facilities, which during are not accessible to the public under normal circumstances.

In the very heart of Prague, Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering will offer tours titled Harnessing the energy of stars in terrestrial conditions. Visitors will obtain information on thermonuclear fusion or the Golem tokamak. New in the program will be popular science lectures titled Radioactivity in the same household - Ionizing radiation in medicine - safe or unsafe? and Chemical stability of organic molecules for the reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel.

Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Dejvice campus will present medical technology, the blackout phenomenon  and energy literacy. Using IT technology , event guests may try to deactivate a bomb and  high voltage laboratories, the flight simulator, the electrical formula student project, IT spells or the Banana Piano will also be accessible.

Equally interesting will be the tour of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Two sets of sightseeing tours are prepared. Right in the lobby, you'll see the special FESTKA bicycles together with the Combustion Engine Formula student project. The topic of mechanics and metal processing will dominate the hall laboratories tour circuit, and waste treatment will also be presented.

The construction, transport and information security will be presented under one roof. Faculty of Civil Engineering will host  exhibits in attractive surroundings of Studio D and specialized labs as well as interactive truck transport simulator of Faculty of Transportation Technology and safety concerns when using standard chip payment cards will be demonstrated in the laboratory of the Faculty of Information Technology.

Last year´s Night of Scientists was attended by more than forty two thousand people at about fifty places. Its among the largest events of its kind in the Czech Republic.
